Faro Arm Operator

We are a market leader in Aerospace composite manufacturing, working with exciting technologies and materials to design and build advanced composite structural components and assemblies. We are seeking an experienced Faro Arm Operator to join our Quality Inspection team at our sites in Crewkerne, Somerset.

This role will be the primary operator of the Faro Arm Measuring Equipment; coordinating and completing CMM activities on a wide range of parts and sub-assemblies in order to meet the critical standards required for Customers. The role will also coordinate the calibration of all company and personal equipment. Experience in the use of CMM equipment is a requirement for the role, however experience in the use of a Faro Edge arm with a Laser Line Probe using FARO CAM2 software is highly beneficial.

This role is based in factory environment, and follows a day shift pattern; the flexibility to work overtime is required.

The role

Key activities will include:

  1. Measuring and laser line scanning of; composite parts, mould tools and other fixtures against CAD models and where there are no CAD models, against engineering drawings.
  2. Coordinate and carry out CMM activities on a wide range of parts and sub-assemblies.
  3. Data entry and administration in relation to CMM inspection activities.
  4. Maintain the Calibration Register; ensuring the calibration status of all Company & Personal Equipment is accurately recorded.
  5. Coordinate the Calibration Recall Process; organising monthly collections/deliveries of calibrated equipment with the Calibration Service Provider.
  6. Perform corrective actions to address identified measurement problems.
  7. Perform Goods Inwards Receipt Inspection, Stage Inspection, and Final Inspection operations as required; in support of production schedules.

The person

  1. Trained Faro Arm Operator (formal/certified training preferred).
  2. Previous experience in Aerospace/Automotive environment preferred.
  3. Previous experience within an ISO9001, AS9100 approved.
  4. Practical experience of engineering drawings (previous experience with Catia V5 is beneficial).
  5. Experience with a Calibration Control System is beneficial.
  6. Must be task/ achievement focussed, diligent and productive work ethic.
  7. Good practical skills with a high level of manual dexterity.
  8. Good concentration levels, attention to detail and methodical approach.
  9. Strong planning and organisational skills; able to prioritise and effectively manage a varied workload.
  10. A safety-conscious approach to work.
  11. Must be reliable, have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  12. The ability to follow written and verbal instructions and accurately keep records.
  13. Continuous Improvement, zero defect and customer focused mind-set.
