HR Business Partner

We are a market leader in Aerospace composite manufacturing, working with exciting technologies and materials to design and build advanced composite structural components and assemblies. We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join our senior management team at our sites in Crewkerne, Somerset, and also provide HR shared service provision to our sister company, Tods Defence, based in Portland.

This is a great opportunity to make a real difference in an SME with immediate growth opportunities. Previous experience of working within a manufacturing/engineering SME environment is beneficial. This role operates across all levels of the business from strategy development through to very hands-on HR activity and administration support. The role is based at Crewkerne with a requirement to have an onsite presence at Portland as required (once or twice fortnightly dependent on workload).

The key purpose of this role is to work as part of the senior management team to support business success and the delivery of tangible commercial benefits through the development and delivery of an effective HR strategy, robust HR services, and development and training programmes, in line with Company procedures and policies, legislative requirements and general best practice.

The role

- Develop, implement and review Company HR strategy, plans and projects

- Support in raising the calibre and capability of line managers and departmental teams, ensuring development needs are addressed through training and development programmes, ongoing coaching and/or specific development activities

- Long-term human resource, talent management and succession planning

- Manage and deliver recruitment and induction activity to recruit and retain high quality employees

- Drive and support performance management processes to achieve a high performance / high productivity culture, including performance review cycles

- Provide professional HR support to line managers and the senior management team; providing coaching, advice and direct support with employee relations matters, ensuring best practice standards and company policies and procedures are followed

- Design and deliver relevant change, training and development projects and programmes

- Champion and actively contribute to a supportive workplace culture based on cooperation and respect

- Direct line management of the HR/Reception team

- Manage the administration of personnel filing systems and other employee data in line with GDPR requirements

- Manage the internal administration of benefits schemes, i.e. private medical cover, pensions, life assurance, and liaise with relevant external parties and providers

- Support Continuous Improvement to maximise profit and reduce waste

- Work to support the Health and Safety policy and a safety conscious work environment

- Lead by example; promote and act in accordance with Company values, systems, policies and procedures

The person

You will have:

- extensive Employee Relations experience and knowledge of UK Employment Law

- relevant qualification (CIPD) or equivalent experience

- a smart and professional appearance and approach

- effective relationship management capability at middle/senior management level, with strong influencing and coaching abilities

- the ability to develop, implement and manage relevant projects to completion

- a reliable, consistent and resilient approach; able to use own initiative and manage stressful situations

- excellent communication skills, an assertive and empathetic approach – verbal, written, mediation/facilitation, presentation and training skills

- a good standard of IT literacy – Office packages (particularly excel)

- a safety-conscious approach to work (experience of H&S responsibility beneficial)

- a continuous Improvement, zero defect and customer focused mind-set

- a highly collaborative team player approach and the influence/credibility to act as a key shaper in the business, with a flexible and proactive approach to work load
