Sales Engineer

We are a market leader in Aerospace composite manufacturing, working with exciting technologies and materials to design and build advanced composite structural components and assemblies. We are seeking an experienced Sales Engineer to join our Business Development team at our sites in Crewkerne, Somerset.

This role will seek, generate and secure new business opportunities to achieve an increase in order intake, in line with business strategy, through new business development across existing a new global customers.


 - Generate and achieve sales pipeline to meet revenue and profitability targets in line with division and group objectives.

 - Initiate contract negotiations considering all commercial and technical aspects, highlighting potential threats and resolutions to mitigate risk to senior management in order that contract agreement can be achieved.

 - Respond to customer Requests for Proposal including estimation of costs, consideration of tooling/NRE requirements understanding of lead-times and creation of technical/commercial proposals.

 - Understand Tods’ product base and capabilities, in order to be able to develop new opportunities for company growth.

 - Gather intelligence on customers and competitors within Tods’ markets and by doing so report and present business development opportunities. Use information gained through market analysis to evaluate and prioritise these opportunities.

 - Promote Tods’ facilities and the Unitech group by attendance and exhibiting at trade shows, conferences, and networking events.

 - Comply with company procedures, rules and policies.

 - Support the Head of Business Development in the formulation and execution of future sales strategies.

 - Engage with and be an active member of cross-functional teams.

 - Promote customer and quality awareness within the business.


 - Demonstrable technical background in a mechanical (preferably aerospace) engineering environment, with composites knowledge being a distinct advantage

 - A good level of business acumen and the ability to understand/determine customer requirements.

 - Knowledge of Aerospace market dynamics and drivers, products and technologies.

 - Good communication skills including presenting, collaboration, negotiation and listening.

 - Ability to form strong working relationships (internal and external).

 - Customer focused and quick to respond.

 - Computer literate, Windows based and reporting software preferred.

 - A good team player with a flexible attitude to work load.
