Semi-Skilled Production Operatives

Job Description

We are a market leader in Aerospace composite manufacturing, working with exciting technologies and materials to design and build some of the world’s most advanced composite structures. We are seeking Semi-Skilled Production Operatives to join our Production team at our site in Crewkerne, Somerset.

This role will involve a reasonable level of manual handling activity working in a factory environment. You must be very reliable and conscientious, and follow instructions correctly in order to produce consistently high quality work. Experience of working within aerospace or composites manufacturing would be an advantage. There may be a requirement to work shifts, including night shifts.

The role

The key purpose is to support the production of steady state and new composite product in the most economic manner to meet team targets of 100% delivery and quality.

 - Work within the assigned team to complete basic Clean Room lay up and assembly of sandwich panels

 - Continuously check for and report any component defects

 - Follow, process and complete all manufacturing instruction documentation as required. Keep accurate and up to date records of work undertaken and keep the relevant documentation with the part to maintain product integrity and traceability of the part

 - Make test pieces as per instructions

 - Maintain the work environment to the agreed standard in line with Health and Safety regulations and 5S (housekeeping) standards

 - Work in accordance with Company values, processes, policies and procedures

The person

 - Manufacturing/assembly experience; the ability to read engineering drawings is advantageous

 - Diligent and productive work ethic

 - Strong practical skills with a high level of manual dexterity

 - The capacity to carry out repetitive tasks methodically and to a consistently high standard of quality

 - Excellent concentration levels and attention to detail

 - The ability to follow written and verbal instructions and accurately keep records

 - A safety-conscious approach to work

 - Must be reliable, have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

 - Continuous Improvement, zero defect and customer focused mindset

 - A good team player with a flexible attitude to work load; able and willing to work shifts if required

Please note there may be a requirement to work shifts, including night shifts on a temporary or permanent basis. There may also be a requirement to work overtime. The standard 'day shift' weekly pattern is as follows:

  • Monday - Thursday 7am-3:30pm
  • Friday 7am-1pm

Pay scale: £7.50 - £10.13 per hour based on relevant skill and experience
