Supply Development Manager

We are a market leader in Aerospace composite manufacturing, working with exciting technologies and materials to design and build advanced composite structural components and assemblies. We are seeking a Supply Development Manager to join our experienced Procurement team at our site in Crewkerne, Somerset.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the purpose of this role is to control and deliver 100% on time delivery of goods and services from external suppliers and to internal customers and deputise for the Supply Chain Manager for all responsibilities, i.e. reporting, senior management reviews, attendance at Production meetings and action/delegation of assigned actions, etc.

Please note - this is a permanent position which will deputise for the Supply Chain Manager with the support of the Procurement team during a forthcoming period of maternity leave.

The role

Balancing the requirement to achieve internal targets with meeting business needs, the key activities include:

 - Ensure on time delivery of goods and services in line with inventory reduction targets whilst supporting business needs.

 - Categorise and assess suppliers on commercial, quality and delivery capability in order to implement development / maintain or exit strategies.

 - Create collaborative agreements and drive sustained cost and performance improvements throughout the supply chain.

 - Support the supplier measurement and management process in identifying areas for development and to use a structured approach to complaint resolution.

 - Identify, implement and maintain consignment stock/VMI/DLF for both direct and indirect spend.

 - Apply company rules and policies in accordance with the company handbook.

 - Maintain accurate delivery information into company operating system.

 - Create contracts and execute requisitions in line with company requirements.

 - Coach, mentor and guide team colleagues as needed.

The person

 - Experience in contracting, purchasing, expediting, negotiation and lean principles preferably in Aerospace or Automotive sector.

 - Proven track record in supplier performance improvement and cost reduction.

 - AS9100 Rev D Business Quality Management & SC21 Awareness.

 - A strong team player with high level of professionalism and integrity and a flexible attitude to work load; able to take on leadership role in deputy capacity.

 - Good concentration levels and attention to detail.

 - Ability to develop successful working relationships, work on own initiative and as part of a team.

 - Tenacious, takes personal responsibility for seeing things through.

 - Ability to effectively and accurately communicate issues and to report on opportunities and progress made to Senior Management team.

 - Knowledge and experience in root cause analysis tools utilising a cross functional approach where deemed appropriate.

 - Computer literate - Microsoft Office, and practical experience of MRP/ERP.
