Systems Project Manager (Fixed Term)

We are a market leader in Aerospace composite manufacturing, working with exciting technologies and materials to design and build advanced composite structural components and assemblies.

We are seeking an experienced Systems Project Manager on a fixed term basis of approximately 15 months from January 2019 to coordinate and lead the successful systems integration of a Mestec manufacturing software package into the business to agreed timescales and budget. Experience of/the ability to implement MRP/ERP systems/manufacturing software in an SME engineering/manufacturing environment with the requirement to work and communicate effectively across a small cross-functional team is critical for success in this role.

The role

This role will report directly to the Financial Controller and will be responsible for the following:

  1. Manage the successful business-wide delivery of a new manufacturing software system and related processes to time and budget, and ensuring all agreed benefits are realised.
  2. Produce the project plan and review / report on progress; map relevant processes; identify data and reporting needs; establishment and configuration of interfacing with the existing system; organise / carry out testing of the data migration and UAT to confirm functionality.
  3. Plan and lead the associated system configuration, change management, user and super-user training, and business process re-engineering work required.
  4. Manage the (relationship with the) system supplier, ensuring that the solution is delivered and implemented in line with the contract and the agreed implementation plan and fully meets agreed organisational requirements.
  5. Develop, implement and manage detailed project plans utilising appropriate methodologies (Prince II, Lean, etc.) to assure successful, timely delivery and effectively manage interdependencies, critical path, risks and issues.
  6. Liaise cross-functionally with managers and teams to communicate project requirements and progress, and lead project governance meetings.

The person

  1. Project management methodology accreditation (PMP, Prince2, Agile).
  2. Working and implementation experience of MRP/ERP systems (in an SME environment); familiarity with Mestec is beneficial.
  3. Strong project planning/management and problem-solving skills.
  4. Must be detail oriented with strong organisational skills.
  5. Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  6. Communicates assertively and professionally at all levels with internal & external contacts; demonstrates strong verbal & written communication and presentation skills.
  7. Ability to communicate and work effectively across cross-functional teams, and discuss complex systems subjects in layman’s terms.
  8. Able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  9. Proactive, highly self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities/challenges.
  10. Demonstrates toughness under pressure and a high degree of tenacity.
  11. A flexible approach to workload, including working outside of normal office hours if needed for project implementation activities.
